In onore di Giampiero Iatteri (1941-2004) astrofilo italiano. Con l'esperienza e le conoscenze di un'intera vita, trasformò in realtà il proprio sogno: ideare e costruire un intero osservatorio, le mura, la cupola, il telescopio da 400mm e vari strumenti. Scoprì e dette il nome ad alcuni asteroidi, e passò molto del suo tempo osservando e fotografando il cielo con i suoi amici astrofili e facendo divulgazione tra gli studenti.

Named in honour of Giampiero Iatteri (b. 1941-2004 ) italian amateur astronomer.With the experience and knowledge of a lifetime, he made his dream come true: design and build an entire observatory, the building ,the dome, the 400 [mm] telescope and various instrumentation. He discovered and named some asteroids, and spent many times observing and photographing the sky with his many amateur astronomer friends and doing popularization to the students.
